The Process
Resource Photos
I prefer to take my resource photographs at a scheduled photo session. There is no additional cost for the session. This gives me an opportunity to set up the composition and get to know the subject and their personality. After careful review of the photos, I meet once again to consult with the client and decide what composition to use. Sometimes several photos are used to create the desired portrait. I will work from existing photographs in special cases.
Sittings
Although I do not require sittings, I strongly urge all of my clients to consider sitting for me, i.e., posing as I work, at some point during the process. This requires extra effort on your part, but it will have a huge impact on the quality of the finished product.
Materials Used
I use a combination of charcoal and dry pastel. My surface is either Canson paper or Pastelboard. All materials are archival and your painting should last for hundreds of years if framed properly.
Review
I will contact you for a review of the portrait as the work comes to completion. I then make adjustments if necessary. An absolute likeness is guaranteed.
Delivery
Delivery is determined based on the work load at the time of the order. Usually portraits are ready for review about 6 to 12 weeks after photo selection.
Framing
Works are delivered unframed. I provide clients with framing information and, on occasion will meet them at the frame shop.
